The Red Stag Restaurant serves traditional Kiwi classic meals for A La' Carte evening dining and buffets for functions and other special events, with a focus on top quality food and dining experience. Walk-ins are welcome but we strongly recommend booking for groups of 4 or more, as the restaurant can become busy during dinner service. .

Wow what a gem of a find in Fairlie! I don’t normally leave reviews online but this place was that good and the new owners a delight!

Thank you for an absolutely delicious hearty meal cooked to perfection in a warm, inviting homestead full of character! The rib eye fillet amazing, roast pork belly, potatoes and crackling was another level, seafood chowder full of yummy fresh seafood and that pavlova (mmm moreish berry compote!) and ice cream sundaes got a big thumbs up from the kids! (And big ones)

Friendly relaxed outstanding service and personal attention from the new owners Bruce and his chef wife Carla. Thank you also to your other lovely lady staff who was also clearly passionate about food and people! The very best of luck to you all on continued success! We will definitely be back and highly recommend you to others!

Our Apartment is located above the Red Stag Restaurant 700m from downtown Fairlie. The spacious layout is 80m2 with beautiful views of the surrounding hills and mountains. We have an on-site restaurant and can also do room service meals.
We welcome couples, solo adventurers and business travelers. The sleeping arrangements are suitable for a couple or twin occupancy using the sofa bed.

About Us.

The Red Stag Restaurant in Fairlie, Canterbury is located in the historic 130 year old Rimuwhare Homestead - about 5 minutes walk from the centre of Fairlie, on the road west towards Lake Tekapo. Our fantastic site can accommodate up to 100 people for seated dining, and up to 150 guests for casual functions outdoors on our lawn and inside. We don't charge for venue hire, only for the catered food and drink for the day. We can handle a range of special requirements so please don't hesitate to give us a call to discuss your event.
